Candidate for judge of Civil Chamber of Court of Cassation not elected

The Chairman of the RA NA Counting Commission Narek Babayan informed that the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) nominated for the vacant position of the judge of the Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation the candidacies of Vahagn Torosyan, Lilit Khachatryan and Ani Mkhitaryan. On May 25, nobody out of NA 107 deputies took part in the voting, therefore, there was no ballot paper.

The NA Vice President Hakob Arshakyan informed that in accordance with Article 143.6 of the constitutional law the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, if one of the candidates is not elected, then in that case second phase of the election is held, where the two candidates who had maximum votes in the first phase, take part.

Hakob Arshakyan clarified that in this case second phase will not take place, and the SJC should nominate the next three candidates within ten days.
